Multiplayer Papervision Capabilities???
A few months ago, I heard about the release of an AS3 multiplayer / multiuser game engine. Its called paperWorld3D and you can find it at http://paperworld3d.com. Trevor Burton is an experienced flash game developer and has taken Papervision3D and and created this unbelievable AS3 game engine. During the course of development, Influxis and Red5 caught wind of the project and immediately saw the potential for the backend. PaperWorld3D uses Red5 to handle client -> server communication. Red5 is an Open Source Flash Server written in Java that supports streaming Audio/Video (FLV and MP3), Recording Client Streams (FLV only), Shared Objects, Live Stream Publishing, Remoting (AMF), etc. At the time i am writing this, the Red5 project is currently at release 0.7.0. and can be found at: http://osflash.org/red5. Note that paperWorld3D does not support versions or Red5 below this release.
I haven’t had the time to actually play around with paperWorld3D yet but it is definitely something I will test out sooner or later. If anyone has any more information or demos they have to share, let me know.
